Making life easier
I don't know about you, but my mind is constantly ticking away trying to find ways to make my life easier and more enjoyable, like: easier ways to keep up with the home chores; better routines to getting out of the house in the mornings; how to have a more enjoyable day at work; how to keep the clutter from piling up; ways to enjoy quality time with the family; how to be happy all the time; how to be better at time management and so on.
I have spent many years reading self-help books, listening to audio programmes, reading magazine articles and listening to the stories of friends and family who have the same issues. It pays to read widely and listen empathically, as there is so much advice out there. I also meditate daily and exercise regularly which I believe helps me through the day.
My reviews and recommendations
Please find below some of the books that have benefitted from or read good reviews about, as well as exercise ideas, household items and other recommendations...
Louise Hay's new book out now
Books/CDs by Brian Tracy- just a few examples below:
My review:Brian Tracy is an expert in personal development. 'Eat that Frog' was the first of his books that I read (also available as an audiobook/CD) and I would highly recommend it. It explains the three rules for effective personal time management which are decision, discipline and determination.
The book also gives you twenty one steps to eleviate procrastination. If you need some tips on making the best use of your time then this book is for you. In fact I liked it so much I bought it for my brother who has since downloaded the audio version and now calls it his bible. My colleagues at work are learning his techniques and buying his audio books for their friends and family.
Brian Tracy's audiobook/CD 'The New Psychology of Achievement' is another bestseller. I bought the updated version of this original program released in 1983 which explains how if you change your ways, thoughts and habits, it can lead to a better life.

Kundalini yoga - by Maya Fiennes
Practising Kundalini yoga with Maya Fiennes is a must for me - I'd do it every day if I had the time. With there being a DVD for each of the 7 chakras (energy centres of your body) and 7 days in the week, this helps me decide which one to do, e.g. if it's Sunday I practise Chakra 7 which is called 'Bliss'. Then there's Maya's Detox and De-stress DVD which really does calm you down. Each DVD is between 50-60 minutes long, but they are split into sections; warm up, main body and meditation so you can just do one part if time is limited. The Body in Balance Sky TV channel 269 also shows some of the exercises.
Robot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot
This is a bit of a luxury item bought for me by my fiance. It was his answer to helping me do the hoovering. We call ours 'Harry the hoover' and you can switch him on, close the door on a room (after picking everything up of course) and return back to a very clean floor. He is so clever that he returns back to his home (docks) when he's finished.
Pilates for dummies
Pilates exercise is very good for your posture and core muscles and you really can lose weight from doing it. It's also good for strengthening muscles.
Omron pedometer
Very stylish and compact. I bought this product based on the excellent reviews on Amazon and I wasn't disappointed. Once set up, you just clip it on your waistband or pop it in your handbag and off you go. It also shows the previous six days results too.
Personal Running Trainer - 4 weeks to a mile
My sister-in-law recommended this download as she is using to practice for running the race for life. Although there are four tracks on the CD, you can just download week one (which is exactly what I did). I have used it to listen to whilst walking and the music tracks are great as they really get you motivated. The personal trainer tells you when to run and go back to a brisk walk. The whole track is only 20 minutes and he suggests that you do it 3 times a week for 2 weeks before moving onto week 2, which has longer running times and shorter walking times. I found it okay and will definitely be downloading week 2 soon.
